1926 Bathing Suit, Robe and Cap Toile (C623 4069)

1926 Bathing Suit, Robe and Cap Toile (C623 4069)

ing suit:

1. Cut each pants half ('opening out' the pattern piece at the fold at the side)

2. Sew leg seam together and make harrow hem

3. Sew each half together according to the numbers and make a casing for elastic

4. Sew shoulder and side seams together and make narrow hem

5. Sew on bias trim around neckline and arm holes.

6. Sew desired trimming to lower part of swimsuit (I have used folded bias)

Robe:

1. Cut a piece of lining fabric longer than the incision - mark out the incision

2. Sew just outside of the incision lines at the sides and along the top and bottom of the incision

3. Cut the incision line (with small slanted cuts into the corners of the sewn lines at the top and the bottom) Fold the lining fabric through to the back of the garment. Secure with stitching

4. Sew Yokes right side together

5. Attach the yokes to the main panel (due to the thickness of my fabric I just pinned the gather in place - no gathering thread)

6. Prepare the collar with a small hem at the outer edge (similarly hem the bottom of the robe panel) sew it to the robe according to the numbers (wrong side of collar to right side of robe)

7. Construct a facing from a strip of fabric and sew against the front edges, (bias the remaining seam allowances at the back) turn and secure down

Cap:

1. Make a casing around the edge of the pattern (easiest way is to sew a bias strip, and turn) add elastic to the casing

2.Secure the ties at the centre front

(This is a toile and by no means is it an historically accurate construction. It can be used if you are experiencing difficulties with making your pattern)
